Walk the Walk is a grant making charity not only dedicated to raising money for vital breast cancer causes but is also passionate about encouraging women and men to become fitter and healthier and take control of their own wellbeing. Our flagship events are The MoonWalk and SunWalk but Walk the Walk also takes teams of women and men to challenges all over the UK and across the world to raise money and awareness.
The MoonWalk is organised by Walk the Walk and takes place in Edinburgh at night! This is a unique event as not only do all the participants power walk a marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles) depending on which distance they have chosen, but they all wear decorated bras to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Power walking is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK; it is low impact and accessible for all ages, sizes and levels of fitness. An average walk is approximately 3 miles an hour – by power walking you are aiming to increase your speed to 4-4.5 miles an hour. By using a simple technique you will raise your heart rate and get the blood pumping, thereby improving your fitness! When you start power walking you will find after only a couple of sessions that you feel a difference and researchers have described it as ‘the perfect form of exercise.’
At the moment we are concentrating on organising this years events! You will be able to register your interest for next years challenge after this years event has happened.
