Who is Walk the Walk?

Walk the Walk is a grant making charity not only dedicated to raising money for vital breast cancer causes but is also passionate about encouraging women and men to become fitter and healthier and take control of their own wellbeing. Our flagship events are The MoonWalk and SunWalk but Walk the Walk also takes teams of women and men to challenges all over the UK and across the world to raise money and awareness.

What is The MoonWalk?

The MoonWalk is organised by Walk the Walk. This is a unique event as not only do all the participants power walk a marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles) depending on which distance they have chosen, but they all wear decorated bras to raise awareness for breast cancer. There are 15,000 walkers

What is Power Walking?

Power walking is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK; it is low impact and accessible for all ages, sizes and levels of fitness. An average walk is approximately 3 miles an hour – by power walking you are aiming to increase your speed to 4-4.5 miles an hour. By using a simple technique you will raise your heart rate and get the blood pumping, thereby improving your fitness! When you start power walking you will find after only a couple of sessions that you feel a difference and researchers have described it as ‘the perfect form of exercise.’

Can I run at The MoonWalk?

No. The MoonWalk is a Power Walking challenge and running is not an option.

Any participants running any part of the route will be asked to leave the course without a medal.

Is The MoonWalk a race and is it timed?

NO. It is about entering, taking part, raising money and for many just to finish is a huge achievement. However there are many people that put a huge commitment into the training and want to achieve a good time, which is just fantastic! We do have a timing clock at the start but that is for your own personal use and for no other reason.

Is there any recognition for being first across the finish line?

Everyone who crosses the finish line receives a medal and the recognition from friends and family for completing an incredible challenge! As the challenge is not a race we believe that that is the best form of recognition there is.

Accomodation - can you help?

The start and finish point of The MoonWalk will be MoonWalk City which is on the Marble Arch side of Hyde Park, the closest entrances are Cumberland Gate and Upper Brook Street Gate! We do not have details on accommodation in the area but would suggest looking for somewhere in the Bayswater area, possibly using a search engine on the internet.
