When can I apply to take part in The SunWalk Newcastle

Entries are now closed for 2008

How do I apply to take part?

There are 3 ways you can enter either by filling in a form online, downloading an entry form or picking up an entry form in a store near you

Does everyone who sends in an application form get a place?

No. Applications are received on a first come first served basis.

Can men enter too?

Yes! Men can Walk the Walk too but they don’t get away with not wearing a bra as The SunWalk is all about raising awareness and wearing a bra to take on a challenge is the Walk the Walk trademark and one of the reasons we manage to raise so much awareness and money for our vital causes.

How old do you have to be to walk?

The SunWalk is open to anyone from 0 to 100! To take part in the Half Marathon you must be 13 years or older on the challenge day. If you want to take part in the 10K you need to be 6 years or older. The 5K is open to everyone. If you under 18 you must always be accompanied by an adult no matter what challenge you decide to do

Can I enter as a part of a team?

All applications are treated as individual entries. However many people like to have a team name to fundraise together or as a method of building moral and team bonding.

***We do not allocate places as per team names, all places are given in the order in which applications are received.***

How much does it cost to enter?

The entry fee for 2009 has not been set just yet.

Can I register on behalf of someone else?

No. Due to heath and safety requirements each person who enters must be responsible for filling out their own form.

I walked/volunteered before; do I get priority with my application?

No, to be as fair as possible, all places are given as we receive applications on a first come first served basis.

Can I register over the telephone/fax or e-mail?

No, all applications must be received with payment. We do not have credit card facilities to take entry fee payments in the office.

When will I find out if I have got a place?

We will write to all successful applicants as soon as we possibly can to notify them of places. With the sheer volume of entries we receive, please do bear with us as it does take a little time to process all our walker’s details along with the details of those who unfortunately were unsuccessful with their walking applications onto our database.

If I don’t get a place can I hold my own SunWalk?

No. You can hold a walking event of your own to support Walk the Walk, but you can not hold an event called The SunWalk as the concept and name are legally protected both in the UK and around the world. Call us on 01483 741430 and chat to us about what you want to do – we will be happy to send you out sponsor forms and give you advice!
