Teachers from St Joseph's Catholic Combined School arranged a fundraising event in school. They set the children a competition of designing their bras (referring to them as a bikini top)! They gave them an outline of the bra and charged 50p per entry. They gave prizes to the top three designs and made the winning one. The challenge was set to the families, so as not to alienate the boys from the competition. It was something different from the usual mufti days and cake sales held in schools and got all the children thinking (from reception to Year 6), about the issues of what they were raising money for. They raised £135.00 from the event (and had a fab design for the bra!)
Staff at Marks and Spencer in Tolworth held a “Pink Day”, staff all dressed in pink and pink balloons were put on every till point. Percy Pig walked around all day with a pink bucket which is where most of the money was raised. The day was a great success and raised £569!
In return for a donation or sponsorship the donor gets to go home an hour early, obviously this needs the support of senior management in any organisation.
Again this will require senior management authority but how about holding a draw within your work place to win an extra day's leave?
Have a special photo taken of yourself or team in your decorated bra and then sell the photo to each of your clients for lots of money…it has been known to get £200 a photo!
Run a lunchtime quiz or bingo for work colleagues. Have a small entrance fee and the winner could receive half the entry fee or a specific prize.
Guess the baby photo competition is always fun at work or how about a quiz to match people with their pets - which dog, cat or goldfish belongs to which colleague?
This will require the consent of senior staff (please be sensitive with this one) essentially hold your boss to ransom but make sure you treat him/her well!
Run as a normal lottery, £1 a number, the winner takes half, the rest goes to the charity….over 6 months that could be a lot of cash!
Get your car wash team to don their bras and wash the company cars! But make sure that this exclusive and unusual service is well paid!
Some enterprising ladies invited several stall holders, selling books (e.g Usborne), toys, jewellery, candles, cosmetics (e.g. Body Shop), cards (e.g Phoenix) etc to their local Young Family Group for a 'shopping day'. They had a morning and an afternoon session. Toys, books and films will be available to entertain the children while Mums shop, enjoyed a coffee and a chat. They did this before Xmas but it could work at any time of the year. Proceeds were split between the Group and WTW. So everyone benefits!
