...we managed to raise £640 from the walk the walk badge sales, and including the amount I paid for them initially makes a total of £690 from the 100 badges purchased. We were able to raise a lot of money at work – people donated for a work mufti day and we gave them a badge. The minimum we asked was £2 each but many people donated more!

June is the manager of a convenience store and recently bought ten boxes of bra pins. She is using her contacts to spread the word – and the pins! She has taken bra pins to her meetings at head office and has asked her teacher friends to put them into staff rooms. June’s 8 year old son is the star of the day who sold 200 bra pins after putting up a poster at his school and telling them about his mum going through treatment for breast cancer. June also takes bra pins on her training walks and sells them to curious passers by.

I found out about Walk the Walk by coincidence when I was watching daytime TV in 2008 and I have been a fan ever since. It's a fantastic charity and I have been spreading the word ever since. In fact I am collecting donations in one of the collection tubs and selling the Walk the Walk pins at my college for Breast cancer awareness this month and the pins are going like hot cakes! Some of my music students (male and female) are collecting the different designs and they are very proud to wear them around college, as am I. It is becoming 'cool' to be seen wearing one of the funky pins and even students I don't teach have been coming to my office to get one!
