" I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you the to all the volunteers that gave up their night to support us, they were excellent and they deserve medals as well. If it weren’t for them loads of walkers would never have completed it. I had a ball, thank you and see you next year. " Leah Varney

" I volunteered on the Helpdesk at the Moonwalk Edinburgh last night and just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to be involved in something so inspiring. I had a wonderful time with John, Jackie and Bea and would definitely like to be involved again next year. As a student nurse I gained more information about breast cancer and can use this knowledge now throughout my career as a nurse. Once again, thank you for giving me this opportunity. Kindest regards and best wishes to everyone at Walk the Walk, " Jayne Roberts

" HI to you all and hope you are all recovering from Saturday. I had a wonderful time this year helping out with the 9am Saturday morning session where I met some wonderful people doing the flapjacks and meals. Jon & 1 had a good time putting the cardboard into the 9 foot skip and being 5 feet in height it was a challenge!! Was also pleased to meet the chap, Michael Clark who was awarded the MBE on Saturday. Please put me down as a volunteer for the above. I can work all day from 7am to finish so put me down for anything. Thanks to all the team that work behind the scenes putting these wonderful events together so well. " Cathie Purves

" Just a wee note to say what a fabulous experience it was helping with this years Moonwalk. I was lucky enough to be a Driver (and thus I was cosy warm too) and had a great time shooting about town and cheering on the Walkers - it was great to see the walkers waving at us in the car and see them smiling as I waved madly at them. On the night , I picked up 4 Walkers - all of whom shed more than a few tears when they had to retire...it was a very humbling experience to try and cheer them and congratulate them on what they had achieved when they were upset at not being able to finish. I've walked the half moon walk the previous 2 years and had planned to walk next year however I am now really torn - I would like to Walk and raise the funds however it was such a great feeling being a volunteer that I really don't know what to do next year!! Please pass on my Thanks to Kerry - she did a great job at keeping us all up to date and getting answers to our many questions. How she kept on top of the schedule all through the night was quite remarkable - she must organise one heck of a party! All the other volunteers I met were great fun and I've made a few new friends. It really was a great privilege to be a volunteer - and my wee girl loves the orange Crew hat! many thanks for the opportunity to be involved in such an amazing party! So, next year I'll be back - just need to decide whether I'm a Walker or a Driver. " Carol

" Now, that was an experience! My husband and I came as crew members and worked in the first shift of the directional team. There were so many amazing people arriving to walk and the bras were bloomin’ brilliant!! Being a human chain at the start line was a bit scary, but exciting too. My feet hurt and I was quite tired after 6 hours so I cannot imagine how tired the girls and guys who did the walk must have been at the end. I think that everyone who took part is amazing, such an inspiration, and have convinced me to apply to walk next year!!! Thanks for the evening. " Bryher (and Ben) Hill.

" I just wanted to say what a FANTASTIC night it was! As a route marshal it's great to see all the walkers pounding the streets and cheering along with them. I was especially amazed to see so many walkers still smiling as they reached the 26th milestone. All the walkers were amazing, I was especially astounded when I saw a walker complete the full 26.2 miles on crutches! I felt she deserved an extra big hug... and possibly some ice for her aching wrists. Another walker who I feel deserves a mention is a full mooner who was wearing a sign stating that she had survived breast cancer 4 times! Well done girl! I literally take my hat off to both of these fantastic women! " Lauren Watkins

" Dear Sally, I just wanted to say a belated thank you for allowing me to volunteer at Edinburgh. I know it's impossible for you to remember everyone but I and my friend had the bumble bees on our hats and you called us the busy bees. I'm sure you get many emails telling you what a difference Walk the Walk makes to peoples lives and I am no exception. I have participated in two Playtex Moonwalks and then volunteered with you at Edinburgh. Two years agao I was seriously overweight and walk training for the events helped me shed 8 stone. Your philosophy of eating fresh organic food wherever possible was an essential part of my weight loss as well. Having done all this hard work to improve my health life then decided to turn round and bite me on the bum and on Dec 28th last year I had a CVA (stroke). Having a place in London gave me all the incentive I needed to get back on my feet and I managed to complete the half moon in 4 1/2 hours proving all those who said I'd never manage it wrong. Although physically far better my speech was not making such good progress so when I came to volunteer at Edinburgh I was very nervous. Everyone was fantastic and didn't draw any attention to it. Then I was asked to greet the other volunteers, give them their goody bag and direct them to register. Panic stricken at first it gave me the push I needed to get talking. You came over and offered your thanks and told us how lovely it was that people were getting such a happy greeting. This meant the world to me. Walk the Walk continues to make a difference in my life and I am truly grateful to you all. Thanks again " Alison
