After 10 years our current website has been retired...it has served us well and has even been archived by the British Museum! The change started last year when we contacted about a thousand of our walkers to find out what they thought about the site and what they would like to see in future. It soon became obvious that we needed to start from scratch rather than adjust what we already had.
Whilst a pink background throughout the site was fun it did make the information harder to read, so you will find that as you dig deeper the pages have less imagery and more text. The images are now bigger and we have started to use slideshows and youtube to publish some of our great content. Having been going for over a decade you can imagine that we have a huge archive and this will start to appear in the About Us section. You will also notice that the website is now wider to make use of the computer screens that over 98% of you are using. As a result there is a lot more space whcih will hopefully make things easier to navigate.
We have introduced some new sections as well: Health, Ninas Column and Get Talking. The health pages will cover everything from nutrition to recycling and the environment - topics that we feel very passionate about. Speaking about passion, our Founder Nina Barough now has her own column to put forward her point of view on numerous subjects...she promises to update when she can! Get Talking will all be about us talking to you - there will be a forum, a place for you to contract us about your stories and it will also be the section that deals with our fabulous volunteers.
We know that a lot of you spend quite a lot of time browsing the site, so we have also introduced a search bar so that you can actually search this site for the information you want. There is also a site map available if you get a bit lost.
We hope that you like the new website so please let us know what you think!
