A massive Walk the Walk thank you for volunteering over the weekend at the Playtex MoonWalk. Whether you were in the Kitchen, the baggage tents, marshalling or any other area you can be assured that you contributed to making this year’s event a terrific success. If it was not for you and the army of volunteers who turned up on the night we could not have had such an amazing time.
We are all getting some rest now before we head of to Edinburgh to do it all again. Why not join us and make Edinburgh a success!
We hope you have been able to get some rest and want you to know that you have supported a fantastic cause.
Let us know of any stories you have of the night and pictures
A HUGE hug from all the volunteering team.

I just wanted to write and say a HUGE thank you to Walk the Walk for a fantastic night on Saturday. This was my second year of volunteering and I had a fantastic time working hard on the Finish Line Team. And although the work did get harder as the hours went on, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was very proud to be able to help such a wonderful and worthy cause. And so privileged, too, to be able to award those hard-earned medals to all the walkers. That was often a very emotional moment. My mum has had breast cancer twice and has successfully gone through surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. And I'm pleased to say she recently got her first "all clear" one year on. She is my inspiration. She battled through it all, always staying positive even when it came back the second time. She kept her sense of humour with a selection of colourful hats when she lost her hair (which was so hard to see) but she always looked on the bright side and stayed positive, which I'm sure has helped her immensely. So this is why I am so pleased to have been able to give my support once again. For my mum and all those other mums, sisters, daughters, etc, out there who need our support. So thank you Walk the Walk, for all that you do and for giving us the opportunity to help. I've walked 4 full MoonWalks and have now volunteered at 2 and I don't think I can say that either is better than the other! Thank you x

We have a volunteer role to suit everybody and we invite our volunteers to let us know their skills and what they would like to do to help. We need marshals to guide and support the route, drivers to get the team around London, energetic cyclists for our specialist cycle teams, organised minds for our baggage tents, warm hearts for our finish line, skilled hands for our massage teams, backstage helpers to prepare our volunteer teams and bright characters to greet all those walkers and provide them with the food, water, and blankets they’ll need.
"Having walked last year, this year I joined the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who kept everything running (or rather walking!) smoothly through the night. Serving thousands of pasta meals to women - and men - in decorated bras made it an unforgettable night!" Jeremy Hughes, Breakthrough’s Chief Executive
It would be fantastic to get your friends, family, work colleagues and whoever else to enjoy volunteering with you! Besides getting to be at a great event, volunteering at the Playtex MoonWalk is rewarding, fun and totally unusual – you’ll be surprised how many people will be interested in joining you! Tell us who you would like to volunteer with and we’ll keep you together – so perhaps you know someone who would like to join in?

My Mum and I walked the full moon last year and were so amazed by the support of all the volunteers we vowed to come back in 2010 to help, which is exactly what we did! We were route marshals in Zone 5 and along with my very silly and vocal Dad, we directed the walkers up the steps towards Parliament Square. It was an amazing experience from start to finish and was great to see the walkers through in all their amazing glory from the very first (and fast!) to the very last. Well worth getting a bit cold and losing a night’s sleep! The only thing is it made me want to walk it again (having always said it would only be a one off!) so I think I will try and get a place next year but this time my boyfriend wants to join me after telling him about all the fabulous men that took part! If we don't get in i'll volunteer again. Please, please send my thanks to Abi and Thea, our Team Leaders. They were fab - friendly, calm and organised. Well done Walk the Walk. You have a great thing going here
