To date we have had over 20 volunteers who have joined The Wave of Friendship scheme and supported us in Scotland and London! Read about one of our volunteers experiences here
The Wave of Friendship scheme will be available in 2012. So why not start to plan now, sign up and secure your bursary of up to £500 to cover travel, accommodation and other costs involved in the exchange. Bursaries can be awarded to those who live in the Greater London area and wish to volunteer at The MoonWalk Edinburgh; or to those who live in Scotland and would like to volunteer for either The MoonWalk London or The SunWalk London.
You may also get a bursary to help you volunteer within Scotland, for example if you live in Glasgow and want to volunteer in Edinburgh you could get £100 to cover the costs.
Volunteers can choose any opportunity that takes place between now and September 2012 that demonstrates one or more of these values; Friendship, Respect, Courage, Determination, Equality and Inspiration. To date, all applications from Walk the Walk volunteers have received bursaries.
To learn more about the scheme and how to apply take a look at the Wave of Friendship website where you will find an online application form as well as an equal opportunities form which must be completed by all applicants and emailed to wof@peoplemakingwaves.org.uk. They will then be in touch with you to let you know if there is anything further that you need to do to get your bursary.
TOP TIP - When completing the form you will have to give estimated expensed for travel, accommodation and food up to the maximum allowed. It is better to overestimate the amount that will be required as it is easier to reduce the amount at a later stage that it is to increase it.
Any questions or difficulties please call Sue at Walk the Walk on 01483 741430 or email sue@walkthewalk.org
