What does a volunteer do?

Volunteers are an essential part of the Walk the Walk team and without them the MoonWalks and SunWalks simply would not happen. This year over 2000 volunteers  gave their time to support Walk the Walk. By doing so they had fun, made friends and helped us move ever closer to this year's fundraising target of  £10 million for vital breast cancer causes.  If you are ready to commit a little of your time to making a difference in 2011 then we have a volunteer role for you.

Route Marshal

Guide and direct our fantastic walkers around the course. Encourage and cheer on everybody as they complete their challenge. Assist our walkers at water stations and other stops around the course. You will need to be resilient as you will be out on the course dealing with all sorts of issues but at the same time you will be having a lot of fun . If you are a keen cyclist then why not become a member of our cycle team? Don't forget you will need your own bike!

Welcome Team

We are looking for volunteers with great communication skills to join our welcome teams. If you have the confidence to meet and greet, the willingness to use your initiative and a good sense of humour to boot then this could be the role for you.   

Volunteer Registration

The volunteer tent is the hub of all the action. Security passes, crew kit and final information packs are just some of the things that need to be dealt with and, as you can imagine, it is sometimes a little hectic. If you would prefer an on-site or seated role and are organised and good with people then volunteer registration could be the place for you!      

Clean and Recycle

As you can imagine, with so many walkers there is sometimes a lot of litter.  We need a dedicated team of volunteers to help us keep both site and route spotless! By helping us collect and recycle thousands of empty water bottles you will be supporting a great cause and doing your bit for the environment. 

Massage

Would you like to join our team of masseuses? Hundreds of enthusiastic walkers will love to have a quick confidence booster before the event. You will need a professional massage qualification.  Give the volunteer team a call for further details.

WalkWear

Have you got some retail experience? Can you work well under pressure? For a few hours our very own Walk Wear tent will become the busiest shop you have ever seen! If you are good with people, have good communication and organisational skills, than you could be one of the few people assisting our busy team!

Bra Pins and Balloons

We have a fabulous selection of bra pins and gorgeous pink balloons to sell to our walkers and everyone else who would like one. You will be walking around the site making sure that no leaves empty handed. Are you up for the challenge?

Tattoos

 If you are a friendly, fun person and like the personal contact with our walkers, then why not help out at the tattoo corner of our buzzing, big, pink tent?
