Health charity Walk the Walk organises the iconic night-time fundraiser

  • Decorated bras and bra t-shirts. Walkers wearing Walk the Walk’s iconic brightly decorated bras and colourful “bra t-shirts”
  • Edinburgh lights up pink. Edinburgh landmarks will light up pink in support of The MoonWalk, including the Edinburgh Castle; Radisson Blu Hotel; Camera Obscura; Lloyds on the Mound; the Royal Society, Edinburgh; St Andrew’s House; Victoria Quay, Leith; Prestonfield House Hotel; Edinburgh International Conference Centre

The MoonWalk Scotland

  • Thousands of women and men wearing brightly decorated bras or colourful “bra t-shirts” will walk a half or full marathon overnight through the streets of Edinburgh
  • Walkers can also take on their challenges virtually, in their own areas
  • Walk the Walk has raised £139 million since 1998, when Nina Barough CBE created the first MoonWalk in London - The MoonWalk Scotland followed in 2006. Almost £22 million has been raised in Scotland alone
  • Money raised through the MoonWalks is granted to support those living with cancer
  • Walk the Walk recently granted £50,000 to the charity Cancer Support Scotland, to help reduce the waiting list for Scottish cancer patients and their families, who are in desperate need of emotional and wellbeing support
  • Walk the Walk previously awarded funds to Edinburgh’s Breast Cancer Institute, to Maggie’s Centres across Scotland and to hospitals across the country for them to purchase Scalp Cooling machines, which help many cancer patients keep their hair during chemotherapy
